Who is the Hero of Ages?
To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness--the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists--is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed.

Having escaped death at the climax of The Well of Ascension only by becoming a Mistborn himself, Emperor Elend Venture hopes to find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world.
Vin is consumed with guilt at having been tricked into releasing the mystic force known as Ruin from the Well. Ruin wants to end the world, and its near omniscience and ability to warp reality make stopping it seem impossible. She can't even discuss it with Elend lest Ruin learn their plans!

First of all I'd like to thank Sam from TsundokuBooks for recommending this serie to me. Thanks Sam, my heart has been twisted, shocked and then broken but overall I'm satisfied. I'm happy to know everything. The Inquisitors' secret, who the Hero of Ages is, how kandra and koloss are made...

You'll find the answers to every question you had. After finishing the Well of Ascension I was eager to pick up the final book and once again Brandon Sanderson didn't disappoint me. If there is any plot hole, I haven't found it.
The story is so well crafted, I didn't have any questions left after finishing the story.

We follow Vin's, Elend's, TenSoon's, Sazed's and Spook's perspective. Yes you read correctly, Spook is an important character in this book. Reading his point of view was weird at first. I mean, to me he was the boy I couldn't understand in The Final Empire, the boy who had a crush on Vin, Clubs' nephew, but never just "Spook". And yet, he surprised me and I found myself engrossed in his story line. He's much more interesting that I thought and even though he's not one of my favorites, he's close behind.

Every character helped moving the story forward. Don't get me wrong, I love books with multiple perspectives but there's always this one character I don't care about. The Hero of Ages is the exeption to the rule : I loved every single chapter.
They all finish with an exciting cliff-hanger so I felt frustrated when it ended but as soon as I'd start another one, the frustration would completely disappear.

Now that I ship Vin and Elend I absolutely loved every scene they had together (particularly this one scene where they were the cutest couple ever). I don't even know how I could have shipped Vin and Sazed, aaah youth ~.

What I loved the most is Elend's and Sazed's personal reflection. Elend has to find the right balance between who he wants and who he has to be and that was pretty interesting to see how he manages to find this balance and his journey toward being respected and trusted by his people. Then there is Sazed, my number 1 favorite character of this serie.
After what happened in The Well of Ascension, I knew I'd be heart-broken during his chapters.

I also liked the fact that the "bad guys" weren't bad. Not really. I could understand all of them (yes even Ruin, I mean, he can't help who he is. It's his nature).

Anyway, I can praise it on and on but I think if you've liked The Well of Ascension you won't help but picking up The Hero of Ages and I'm sure you'll like it too. This book is full of revelations, twists and everything I like in Fantasy. I feel sad but happy at the same time, I'm looking forward to reading other books written by Brandon Sanderson.
