This month has been crazy. I got my Wifi back (thank god) and I
realized how much I depended on it. Besides reading, writing reviews
and cleaning (I did a lot of cleaning. Without wifi I'm the cleanest
person in the world), I was pretty bored. Also, as you may have noticed I started
blogging again ! I missed it so much and I'm so glad I'm doing it
again. During my break, I read some of your posts (before I had my wifi
problems) and you all inspired me to come back to this blog and keep
doing what I love so thank you for being awesome !
Now let's talk about today's announcement : I'm going on vacation
for 2 weeks ! While you're reading this, I'm probably in
the north of France. I'm going to visit a city there and then I'll go
to Germany. You can't imagine how excited I am. I'm probably going to
try speaking German... And fail miserably since I can't speak German
(except hello and money. It's a good start, right ?) but it's going
to be fun.
Don't worry though, I have some posts scheduled for you. Let me
know if you want me to do a post about where I'm going and all of
that.
Let's move on to the actual wrap up.
I binge read the Night School serie by C.J Daugherty. I have a lot of issues with it. The serie started off great but fell short at some point. It was repetitive, at times boring and I was really disappointed in the vilain. I'll post the reviews I wrote for all of the books in the serie soon. I wrote each review right after finishing each book so you'll get to see all of the crazy theories I had.
I Believe in a Thing Called Love - Maurene Goo : I LOVED it. It's such a cute and hilarious story.
Something About You and A Lot Like Love - Julie James : Her books are one of my guilty pleasures. The romances are cheesy but I can't help but love them.
Asking For It and Begging For It - Lilah Pace : (trigger warning : rape). It's about a rape survivor who now has rape fantasies and hates herself for it. Erotica isn't really my thing but I found the subject intriguing. The author handled the topic pretty well and the MC's internal conflit was particularly interesting to read. She's scared and ashamed of her own desires. That's when she meets Jonah, whose fantasies revolve around completely controlling someone and have them at his mercy.
I liked the distinction made between the fantasy and actual rape. Jonah isn't a controlling man he's actually very sweet and caring.
Also, consent is the foundation of their relationship. They both set clear boundaries and respect each other's limits. I find it pretty cool that Jonah had limits too. In all of the similar books I've read, it was only the girl who had some reservations and the guy who was all "I'm up for anything, baby !".
Books I Reviewed
A Court of Wings and Ruin - Sarah J Maas : ★★☆☆☆
I Believe in a Thing Called Love - Maurene Goo : ★★★★☆

That's it for today, I hope you're enjoying your holidays (if you have any) I'll see you in two weeks and who knows, maybe I'll write a post in German (let me dream, guys, let me dream).
Have you read any of the books mentioned ?
What do you plan to read in August ?
Hope you enjoyed, see you next time.
Have a great time in Germany! I would love to hear about your trip. :) I just might read Once and for All this August as well.. who knows?
RépondreSupprimerI did ! Well I ended up DNF (DNFing ?) it. I was really disappointed with this one.
SupprimerYay for getting your wifi back! I lived in a flat for six months where we couldn't get Wifi, and it was the absolute worst. I always forget how much I actually use the internet until I don't have it!
RépondreSupprimerI hope you have a great time in France and Germany! :)
SIX MONTHS ?!! That's crazy ! I spent one month and a half without it and I felt like everything stopped around me. I can't even imagine what it'd be like to live without it for six months.
SupprimerHave fun in France/ Germany! Hope it's an awesome trip. No WiFi is the worst- I mean without the internet, what are we lol?
RépondreSupprimerI kind of agree about the Night School series, I liked it to a degree but it was repetitive and I thought it was stretched out to 5 books when it could have been resolved in two- maybe three at most? In fact, hate to admit it, but I haven't finished book five yet... there were things I liked about it, but some definite disappointments also. Can't wait to see your thoughts...
Haha I know ! I didn't realize I relied so much on it (it's kind of crazy when you think about it, how did our ancestors do ?)
SupprimerI absolutely loved your reviews for that serie and to be honest, I kind of kept on reading the books just to read your reviews afterwards. I think you'd be disappointed, it's too bad because it had so much potential !
